Winners Tekla Global BIM Awards in The Netherlands and Poland

The winners of the Tekla Global BIM Awards have been announced and there are two winners in the Construsoft area! Building company Oostingh Staalbouw Katwijk from the Netherlands won in the category Sports and Recreational projects and the student winner of this year is from Poland. A great result, as it shows that our customers belong the to the international top as it comes to building with BIM.
Earlier this year in the Construsoft BIM Awards competition, the public chose their favorite projects of each country out of many submissions. The local winners were the entries of the Tekla Global BIM Awards. In that competition, they compete against all other local winners worldwide. A jury of experts from the BIM field select the winners based on innovative use of BIM, efficient use of information, collaboration, material and complexity.

Sportcampus Zuiderpark
The best sports and recreation project is Sportcampus Zuiderpark by Oostingh Staalbouw Katwijk. In The Hague in the Netherlands, the new sports facility belongs to a larger student campus. The jury report shows that Oostingh scored exceptionally well on collaboration and efficient use of information. During the project, 15 designers worked on the arena in three different locations using the cloud service Tekla Model Sharing. They used the model for estimation, purchasing, production planning and erection. For steel fabrication the production data flowed seamlessly from the model to machinery. The team coordinated the precast hollow core floor and also fireproofing information with the model and used IFC as the main file format for collaboration.

Read more about the project in the article ‘At Oostingh Staalbouw, information is always up-to-date’, that was published earlier this year. Imagery and the complete 3D model in Tekla BIMsight can be found on this webpage.

Lodz City Gate
The best student project is the model of Lodz City Gate from students of Lodz University of Technology in Poland. The students of civil engineering, architecture and environmental engineering created an alternative version of the current gate: a three-part, glass-covered office building with some public space. Next to the structural solution, the concept was also architectural and esthetical. Scoring high on communication and level of collaboration, the team shared ideas for easy problem solving and finding new solutions and used Tekla BIMsight to discuss the project.
